The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong Library has launched a Digital Equipment Loan Services initiative to enhance the support provided to library users. A limited number of digital equipment are available for short term via this service.

- Holders of valid HSUHK identity card
- Users who have fines in excess of $100, and thereby have their patron records blocked, must settle all outstanding accounts before being permitted to check out equipment.

Availability
- Devices are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis but subject to the availability of the device.
Loan Procedure
- Users MUST present their HSUHK identity card in-person at the Library G/F service counter to check out the devices.
- Read and fill out the Library Equipment Loaning Agreement before checking out the devices.
- Upon retrieving the device, users are expected to inspect the physical conditions and report any malfunctions or defects of the devices before leaving the service counter immediately.
- Turn on electronic devices before returning them to the service counter.
- All devices must be returned in person to the library staff at the Library service counters. Users may be required to wait for a short while so that library staff can verify the devices.

- The Service is provided at Library G/F service counter up to 1 hour prior to the closure of service counter, all equipment must be returned 30 minutes before the service counter closes.
- Late returns will be subject to the late fines outlined in ‘Fines’ at Library Regulations 3.9.
Fines
- $200 per opening day with a maximum fine of $2000.
- Overdue for 10 days will be assumed lost.
- The user will be responsible to pay in full replacement cost with no depreciation of the device(s), plus the accrued overdue fines and administration fee $100. The full replacement cost for the equipment are subject to the listed prices from suppliers.

Accessories
- Each tablet will be accompanied by a keyboard upon checkout. Users must return both tablet and keyboard together.
- Each laptop will be accompanied by a MacBook, charger and charging cable. Users must return the whole set together.
- Each camera set will be accompanied by a body with an SD card and battery, a lens, a tripod (optional), a microphone (optional), and a backpack (optional). Users must return the whole camera set together.
- Each camcorder set will be accompanied by a handheld recorder with an SD card and battery, shotgun microphone (optional), a tripod (optional) and a carry-on equipment case (optional). Users must return the whole camcorder set together.
- Any missing or damaged items will incur the applicable fines. For fines of missing or damaged items, please see ‘Fines’.
Liability
- By filling out the Library Equipment Loaning Agreement, users acknowledge full financial liability for the loaned devices and (or) accessories for the duration of the checkout period. Users are expected to adhere to the HSUHK ITSC Acceptable User Policy and exercise due care when utilizing the equipment.
- Users should save files online or on their own storage devices only. Files saved in laptops will be erased when the laptop is rebooted. The Library is not responsible for any leakage of personal data or data loss.
- The Library disclaims responsibility for any data loss, privacy breaches, or consequences stemming from inappropriate use of the devices. Users are prohibited from installing, removing, or modifying any software on the loaned laptops or tablets.
Printing
- The loaned devices are not connected to any campus printing infrastructure.
- Please use mobile printing instead if needed.

- The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong Library reserves the right to amend this policy without prior notice. The Library also assumes no liability for any unlawful or unauthorized use of the loaned equipment.
