29 October 2020

Space for All @ HSUHK Library

Rosanna Li (李慧嫻) has been active in the ceramics field for over three decades. Her public art works at the You Tong MTR station and Li Tung Street in Wanchai have become hotspots for photo-taking among tourists and local citizens alike. Apart from clay, Rosanna also collects read-made objects to make installations. In 2020 she is awarded “Artist of the Year in Visual Arts” by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.

Rosanna will present in the talk some of her major works. She will also portray the development of ideas for her creative works, which are often closely related to the everyday life of common folks. As she puts it, the subject matters of her works are mostly taken from what she observes and experiences in the neighbourhood and the local community, the recurrent theme in her works for the “Cha Charn Teng” (茶餐廳) series is one example. She will be sharing with the audience the process of idea formulation and development, and the making of the actual art pieces.
