Linking the Library E-resources via Google Scholar

Do you know how Google Scholar help your research and study? It is a specialised search engine from Google which you can search scholarly materials from all over the world. Simply add “Hang Seng Management College” to Google Scholar in the page “Library Links”, then you will see “GET IT @ HSMC” in your search result. It would bring you back to library subscribed databases.

You can still enjoy various library services till 31 August 2017 (Thursday). These include:

  • Access to the Library to use its facilities;
  • Check out library materials; and
  • Use Library electronic resources.

  • Please return all your borrowed materials on or before their due dates; and
  • Settle outstanding library fines (if you have any) on or before 31 August 2017 (Thursday).

Just go to the Library Databases A-Z list, search by subjects under Humanities: Arts, Cultures and Music, select “Naxos Music Library”. Then you can enjoy the most comprehensive collection of classical music available online offering nearly two million tracks of jazz, blues, folk, pop & rock, contemporary instrumental and Chinese music.

Reading in Summer@ Library Reading Club

Any plan in summer, except doing summer jobs or internship? It may be a good idea to read without heavy course readings. This time, the Library Reading Club continue to invite Dr Anselm Lam from Department of Social Science to guide us to read The Myth of Sisyphus 《薜西弗斯的神話》, a story of discussing “absurdity” (荒謬感) and the value of life written by Albert Camus (卡繆).

How to read an English e-Journal effectively in three steps?

 

1. Locate an English language journal title from E-Journals A-Z, search under the subject category of Language and Linguistics.

 

2. Check the publication information of your selected journal title, mark down the ISSN, publication type and description. For example, Journal of English for Academic Purposes, ISSN: 1475-1585, which is an academic journal, the journal provides a forum for the dissemination of information and views which enables practitioners of and researchers in EAP to keep current with developments in their field.

 

3. View the abstract, keywords (subject terms) and references list in your selected full-text article. If find useful then download the pdf or bookmark the URL, such as What do subject experts teach about writing research articles? An exploratory study
