A Tradition Of Innovation: Modern and Contemporary Chinese Paintings

Mr Hui Cheuk Fun (許灼勳先生) is by training as an architect, and by interest an art historian, critic, collector, poet, calligrapher and painter. In the lecture, Mr Hui will discuss the art of Chinese painting as an evolutionary process of experimentation and innovation showcasing the creativity of great masters, such as Ren Bonian (任伯年), Qi Baishi (齊白石), Xu Beihong (徐悲鴻). He will offer ideas on appreciating Chinese paintings and discerning the originals from imitations. The lecture will be illustrated with paintings and images from Mr Hui’s collection.

Databases on Trial – 中國學術輯刊全文數據庫 and De Gruyter Arts

The Library is recently adding two new databases 中國學術輯刊全文數據庫 (via 中國知網 CNKI) and De Gruyter Arts, Architecture and Design Collection for trial.

中國學術輯刊全文數據庫 (via 中國知網 CNKI) contains more than 1,100 Chinese journals with full text covering the subjects of Natural Sciences, Engineering Technology, Agriculture, Philosophy, Medicine, Humanities and Social sciences.

De Gruyter Arts, Architecture and Design Collection includes four products: Architecture and Design eBooks Collection, Music & Arts eBooks Collection, Building Types Online & Artists of the World. They provide access to over 3600 titles from Arts, Architecture and Design, and Music subject disciplines.
