Live-chat-a-librarian is an instant reference service that enables you to chat with a librarian using Google Hangouts and LiveChat. This service aims to provide assistance to user who needs quick help in finding general information on library services, resources, and their research questions.
How can I use the service?
You can start your Google Hangouts conversations with any devices connected to your HSUHK email account. Mobile apps are available on different platforms. To access and use Google Hangouts, you can follow this user guide.
You can also use LiveChat box to online chat with a duty librarian.
What are the service hours?
We are available from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm from Monday to Friday (except public holidays). Questions received beyond the service hours would be responded on the next working day.
What kind of questions can I ask?
You can ask any simple and quick questions regarding library resources and services. For in-depth research inquiries, you are encouraged to submit your questions using the Ask a Librarian online form or email us at email@example.com.
Can I send voice and video messages?
The service is best used to provide quick information in short response. Please note no voice or video messages will be answered. Alternatively, you can call 3963-5302 or approach Reference Desk on G/F of the Library.
