Every two months, we will select some signature books, such as travel, philosophy, to show at the Corner. Please stop by and enter the world of reading.

Another discovery experience to explore more Chinese eBooks

We are pleased to announce that more than 130,000 Chinese eBook subjects in Chinamaxx database are enhanced, resulting in a fruitful discovery of titles.

 

To find out the difference, simply put in subject terms such as Chinese poetry, Chinese literature, Essays, Fiction, Language and languages, etc. in SearchPlus and then select E-book from the Resource Type. You will get a more desirable search result.

New Library Website Coming Soon!

The Library Website and SearchPlus will be migrated to their new versions on 31 July (Mon). During this maintenance window, the Library website will be unstable.

Experience Day for Academic Staff – New “Discovery” of Your Library

Join us on the experience day for academic staff. The Library will introduce you several significant updates, including NEW RefWorks workshop, useful tips of the new SearchPlus user interface and new Library website, demo on Open Access resources, and installing e-book apps.

 

This is a golden opportunity to raise questions for RefWorks training representative and librarians as well as to share your experience on using the Library.

Primary Source Databases On Trial

We have three primary source databases on trial until 15 August 2017. They are:

 

  • China from Empire to Republic
  • Nineteenth Century Collection Online: Asia and the West: Diplomacy and Cultural Exchange
  • 大成老旧刊全文数据库

 

It is known that the primary sources are often used by local media as to support their journalism writing and reporting. You may also have a try. Click HERE for more information.

New RefWorks Makes Your Research More Convenient

Please be updated that Library has subscribed to the RefWorks (a web-based bibliography and citation database tool) which will migrate to a new platform in coming months. The Library will prepare a smooth transition for users to the new interface. Here is an advance notification to bring your attention:

 

Step 1: Testing New RefWorks (Jun – Aug 2017)
  • trial testing accounts will be issued to library administration and faculty members
  • a demo for faculty members will be arranged in early Aug 2017

 

Step 2: Preparing Upgrade (Sep – Dec 2017)
  • sign up for a new RefWorks account
  • users should export their citation data to the new RefWorks system before 15 Nov 2017
  • training workshops will be arranged for students in Oct 2017
  • parallel use of both new and old RefWorks accounts are only available at this stage
  • online help guide will be available in the library website

 

Step 3: Launching to the New RefWorks (early 2018)
  • the old version of RefWorks will be terminated by the end of 2017
  • workshops on smart use of the new RefWorks
