Exhibition – Bamboo for the 21st Century

As a green material, bamboo plays an important part in reducing many adverse effects on the environment and human health. To promote environmental protection, HSMC has used bamboo in its internal design of new buildings and as a material for furniture items. Do you know why bamboo is environmental friendly and what benefits it can bring to Mother Earth?

Come to find out answers from the Library’s Green Exhibition themed “Bamboo for the 21st Century” and enter a quiz for lucky draw on or before 27 November! Prizes will be given out by Mr. Martin Tam when he comes to give a talk on bamboo on 28 November 2013. Below are the details of the Exhibition and the Talk:

竹是綠色環保材料,在減少對環境污染和促進人類健康方面起了重大的作用。為了倡導環保,恒生管理學院在新建成的教學行政樓、康樂活動中心等大樓內,採用竹作為內部設計建築材料和辦公室傢具。究竟竹子如何維護生態和對地球環境作出貢獻呢?欲知答案,請參與恒生管理學院圖書館舉辦的綠色展覽 – 「竹子與廿一世紀」 – 及圖書館的綠色講座 – 「廿一世紀環保『竹』覺」。

RefWorks – Your Referencing Buddy

RefWorks is a web-based bibliographic management tool to organize your references and citations. It enables you to build your own library of references or bibliographies so that you can export citations and format reference lists, in your assignments or papers.

Key Functions of RefWorks

  • Import references directly from various databases and SearchPlus to build up your own library of bibliography and citation
  • Generate and format reference or bibliographies lists in a variety of citation style, including APA, MLA, Harvard and Chicago in seconds
  • Export references and citations from your RefWorks library into your assignments or papers (with the use of Write-N-Cite)

Exhibition on Wu Zhi Qiao (無止橋)

(Sept 2013/Issue 16)

The exhibition provides an excellent opportunity for students and colleagues to learn more about Wu Zhi Qiao, a Bridge to China Charitable Foundation. It aims to encourage volunteers, especially student volunteers from Hong Kong to join force with this meaningful foundation through social service learning-based projects, by building foot bridges and village facilities for underprivileged villages in remote areas of Mainland China.
