Library Fines on Overdue of Library Materials

(May 2016/Issue 67)
The Library and Learning Resources Committee (LLRC) meeting on 12 May 2016 has endorsed the following changes on Library Regulations that affect the charges on Library overdue fines for Library materials.

Library Regulations 3.10.1, 3.10.4 and 3.10.7

Effective from 1 June 2016, the processing fee for loss, assumed loss and damaged Library materials will change from HK$30 to HK$50. In addition, the full cost of the item to be replaced will be charged for loss, assumed loss and damaged items.

Library Regulations 3.9.1, 3.10.3 and 3.10.7

Effective from 1 September 2016, the maximum fines for overdue Library materials will change from HK$30 to HK$100 per item. The revised charges also apply to late return of Reader’s Cards and Borrowing Cards of other libraries.

In addition, user’s borrowing privileges will be suspended if maximum fines of HK$100 had been reached. This will replace the current practice of suspending user’s privileges when overdue fine has accrued up to HK$200.

To avoid paying extra charges or borrowing privileges being suspended when the new Library Regulations take effect on 1 June 2016 and 1 September 2016 respectively, Library users are reminded to settle their existing overdue fines as soon as possible.
