Explore Works Written by Human IP

(Issue 163/March 2021)

The art exhibition, Cohabitants of the Urban Jungle – Paintings by Human Ip, is being held at the G/F, lobby of Lee Quo Wei Academic Building. Human Ip is a writer and also an artist who is renowned for her special talent in portraying Hong Kong native species through drawings and stories.

Want to discover further about the relationship between human, fauna and flora in an urban setting? You can see more of her paintings and literature works from the Library collection.

Culture and Technology: Convergence of Chinese Dance, Martial Arts and Virtual Reality for Art Appreciation and Education

(Issue 163/March 2021)

A Talk ‘Culture and Technology: Convergence of Chinese Dance, Martial Arts and Virtual Reality for Art Appreciation and Education’ , jointly organized by the Virtual Reality Centre (VRC), Department of Art and Design (AAD) and Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL), will be held in the Library.

Speakers of the Talk, Ms Carolyn Yip and Mr Ho Ho Fei, Project Manager and Senior Dancer of Hong Kong Dance Company respectively, will share with the audience their experience, inspiration and achievements of a programme hosted by Hong Kong Dance Company – connecting Chinese martial arts and Chinese dance, performing on stages, and producing interactive and immersive videos.

All students and staff are welcome to join the session. Details as follows:

Taste the Joy of Reading 常嚐喜閱

Spring is here – it brings a new beginning of the year. How about having a reading plan for 2021?

To all book lovers, Taste the Joy of Reading 常嚐喜閱 is an Exhibition showcasing wonderful picks of books from teachers, librarians and students. You can also get tips on how to become a habitual reader and enjoy reading.

Visitors of the Exhibition will have a chance to enter a lucky draw to take the recommended books home.

Art and Design Public Lectures

‘One in Millions’ is the fourth session of the Public Lecture Series organized by the Department of Art and Design (AAD) and to be held in the Library.

Speaker of the Lecture, Dr Tim Li, ex-chairman of Para Site Art Space and advisor to RMIT (Aust.) Art School, will share with participants the stories about public housing and public arts.

All students and staff are most welcome to join the Lecture. Details as follows:

Your Voice is Being Heard

Valuable feedback on Library’s learning support activities, webpage development and collection enrichment was received during the first gathering of Library Circle. It enables us to understand students’ needs and make further advancement of the Library services. Significant improvements were made on organizing more workshop sessions for the same topic, enhancing the FAQ webpage and continuously purchasing more quality books.

Library Circle of this semester will be held soon. If you missed the chance for the annual registration for joining the Circle, you may share your thoughts by filling in this form before 4 March 2021.

A Warm Welcome to Library Student Ambassadors

Millions of thanks for your enthusiastic support to Library Student Ambassador Programme!

Over 60 students’ applications were received by this new pilot programme. Outstanding students from 5 Schools of the University were selected as our pioneer Library Student Ambassadors after interviews. Welcome them on board.

The first briefing session for the Programme has completed. More skills for information management and work attachment for library services will be arranged for the passionate Ambassadors. You can meet them very soon in library events and outreach services.
