The Art of Loving@Library Reading Club

What is the definition of love? What does love mean? You may get an answer from the classic work The Art of Loving 《愛的藝術》by Erich Fromm, the renowned psychoanalyst and social philosopher. Erich Fromm explores love in all its aspects and gives theoretical descriptions as well as practical applications of love.

By joining the Library Reading Club facilitated by Dr Joe Poon, booklovers can get together to share views of the art of loving. Participants will receive a free copy of the book.

Expedition of Library Student Ambassadors

Since the beginning of this semester, our energetic Library Student Ambassadors have been working at full speed!

It was great to have the team try out different work types including creating content for social media, providing feedback on user experience for SearchPlus, assisting in workshops and counter services.

We look forward to the sharing of their fruitful experiences very soon. Add oil!

The Opening of Exploring Mixed Media Art

(Issue 175/November 2021)

The Department of Art and Design presented Exploring Mixed Media Art at the Library. The opening of the Exhibition was held on 19 November. Dr. Rochelle Yang from the Department introduced the Exhibition and art pieces by students of AD1003 Technology I: Pre-digital. Students are excited to have a chance to showcase their handicraft in this meaningful event. Their masterpieces are not bound by the reliance of digital format in the technological era. Instead, diverse artform, nature, texture and media are featured in their 3-dimensional innovation.

It is interesting to know the concepts behind the students’ collage creation ranging from painting to sculpture. The Exhibition is on view through 8 December 2021.

Library Reading Club

All three sessions of the Library Reading Club A New Account of the Tales of the World 《世說新語》 has concluded successfully. Students enjoyed reading the book and had interesting discussions with faculties from the Department of Chinese. Thank you for participating in this joyful event.

Exploring Mixed Media Art – Exhibition of AD1003 Students’ Artworks

The Department of Art and Design organizes an Exhibition Exploring Mixed Media Art to showcase artworks created by the students of AD1003 Technology I: Pre-digital.

Under the guidance of Dr. Rochelle Yang, students’ artistic masterpieces are not bounded by technical skills in and out of the computer screens. They demonstrate the ability to convey messages through a wide range of art forms, mediums and textures.

Come visit the Exhibition and appreciate the students’ aesthetic innovation.
