Newly Released eBooks from Wiley Online Library

(January 2017/Issue 79)
The Library currently provides access to around 3,600 Wiley ebooks in a wide coverage of subjects including Business, Economics, Finance, Classical Studies, Cultural Studies, History, Language & Linguistics, Literature, as well as Philosophy.

 

Just in the last two months, more than 190 new titles have been added to the collection. Here are some highlights for your choice:

Rapid Growth of Library Books

Recognizing the rising demand of academic needs in the College, the Library has devoted effort to enhance the library collections. We are so proud to let you know that you may now find over 480,000 book titles in both printed and electronic format. It shows an increment of 137% in comparison with that of AY2012/13.

 

The Library will keep on acquiring more resources for you. Please make your recommendations for learning, teaching and research purpose by filling in the Library Materials Recommendation Form.

More and more violent attacks against reporters happened and more restrictions on access to information which make censorship become a hot topic in Hong Kong. But guess what, many places in the world are facing the same problem every day.

 

The New Censorship: Inside the Global Battle for Media Freedom, wrote by Joel Simon, the executive director of the Committee to Protect Journalists, describes global information about censorship facing by the media industries nowadays. He also discusses some new threats from “democratators”, web wars and surveillance, which gives the critical conditions to reporters and to the flow of information. Some steps have been mentioned for “global citizens” to meet the challenges.
