Happy Lunar New Year of the Ox!

The Library was flooded with couplets with lucky blessings in the past two days.

Couplet writing is a one of the traditional ways for welcoming Lunar New Year. People inherited many different types of traditions and customs for thousands of years. Experience the Chinese culture and feel the vibes of the Lunar New Year.

The Lunar New Year Exhibition will be held until 26 Feb 2021 in the Library. We look forward to seeing you!

An Exhibition of Sketches and Watercolor by artist Chan Kei Him

Featuring pieces of beautiful sketches and watercolor paintings, the Exhibition brings to its visitors a collection of art works with a variety of themes by artist Chan Kei Him.

Mr Chan has joined the Department of Art and Design recently and will teach the course AD1101 Analytical Drawing and Presentation in the new semester.

Library Student Ambassador Recruitment

Are you enthusiastic about learning new skill sets, helping library users, and meeting new friends? If yes, you are wanted.

The Library is excited to recruit our first batch of Student Ambassadors. Library Student Ambassadors will learn useful skills to navigate the information world as well as gain work experiences to provide assistance to library services, events and outreach activities.

Selected students will be able to earn iGPS units or ECA hours for training sessions attended and paid for their service hours for the library works.

Student Helpers Wanted

We are looking for student helpers to join the Library in this summer (June to August). If you want to work in an amicable environment and gain work experience and skills, send the application form and CV right away to library@hsu.edu.hk or contact library staff at the Service Counter of G/F for full details.

Job Descriptions:

  • Assist in processing library materials for display and preservation;
  • Assist in stack management, i.e. shelf-reading and book shelving;
  • Provide support for office work, public services, and library-wide events and activities;
  • Provide support for the library summer projects.

Opening Ceremony of Centre for Asian Languages and Cultures (CALC)

A co-organized opening ceremony of CALC is around the corner. CALC and the Library are glad to have Professor Samuel Ku, the Southeast Asian Studies scholar from Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages in Taiwan, to share with us his valuable experience and views of foreign language education and exchange programmes.

Register and come to witness the new chapter of CALC on 4 February. Light refreshments will be served.
