Artist Profile
Desmond Hui is Professor and Director of the BA in Art and Design, BA in Cultural and Creative Industries Programmes, Founding Head of the Department of Art and Design (from August 2020) at the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong. He obtained his Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University, Master and Doctor of Philosophy from University of Cambridge. Formerly he was Director of the Centre for Cultural Policy Research at University of Hong Kong, Associate Dean of Arts at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Expert Advisor to UNESCO, Guest Scholar of the Canadian Centre for Architecture, Montreal and Research Fellow at St Edmund’s College, Cambridge. He was selected as Lead Curator for the 11th International Architecture Exhibition (HK Exhibition), Venice Biennale, Italy in 2008.
He is now Museum Expert Advisor and appointed member of the Advisory Committee on Built Heritage Conservation, Country and Marine Parks Board for the Hong Kong SAR Government as well as member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Arts and the Market and The International Journal of Cultural and Creative Industries. His research interests and areas cover history and theory of art and architecture, cultural and creative industries, cultural policy, urban development and heritage conservation. Recent publication includes AR Awakening: X-Realities of Hong Kong Layering, HK: 2019.
藝術家簡介
許焯權，現任香港恒生大學教授、藝術設計文學士和文化及創意產業文學士課程總監、藝術設計系創系主任(2020年八月起)；美國康奈爾大學建築學士，英國劍橋大學哲學碩士及博士。曾任香港大學文化政策研究中心總監、香港中文大學文學院副院長、聯合國教科文組織專家顧問、蒙特利爾加拿大建築中心訪問學人、劍橋大學聖愛文學院研究院士。2008年獲選為第十一屆義大利威尼斯雙年展國際建築展覧香港館的首席策展人。
許教授目前為香港政府保育歷史建築諮詢委員會、郊野公園及海岸公園委員會成員及博物館專家顧問、《藝術與市場國際期刊》及《文化及創意產業國際期刊》顧問編委。主要研究領域包括建築及藝術歷史與理論、文化及創意產業、文化政策、都市發展、文物保育等。近作包括: 《擴增虛實 切片香港》香港: 2019。
