        Description
-
Seville is the capital city of Andalusia, Spain. It has a rich culture and history, with Roman and Muslim origins. In the 18th Century, it became the opera capital: the city of Figaro and Don Giovanni of Mozart, Fidelio of Beethoven, the Barber of Rossini, and Carmen of Bizet. I have come here twice, and what impresses me most, apart from the architecture, is the bright violet flowering tree seen everywhere around the city – Jacaranda.
“The purple breeze / Sings through the jacaranda / And wings away, / Leaving the shadows to flower.”
The Jacaranda, by Lucy Eddy (1918)
