Deia 德阿

Among the many villages in Majorca, Deià, located on the northwestern coast, stands out as a jewel with its literary and musical star residents. The English poet Robert Graves was one of the first foreigners to settle in the village, setting up a press and eventually died in his house which has now become a museum. My Barcelona friend’s house is also situated in Deià overlooking nice slopes of orange and olive groves down to the sea. There are many nice beaches and coves along the seashore the most famous of which is Llucalcari. One afternoon, we walked down the slopes of olive groves to bath in the sea where the water was so clear that one could see many kinds of colourful fish and creatures down below. I could not help but pick up my sketchbook and brush to capture the wonderful land- and sea-scape around me.

在馬略卡島眾多的村鎮中，位於島西北岸的德阿宛如一顆明珠，曾在這裡旅居或定居的有國際钜星級的作家和音樂家，包括最早在這裡定居的外國人英國詩人羅伯特格雷夫斯。格雷夫斯曾在島上成立出版社，睌年一直住在德阿直至辭世，他的故居現在已變成博物館。我的巴塞羅拿朋友在這島上的渡假房子也位於德阿，俯瞰著長滿橘子和橄欖的斜坡，沿著斜坡可往下走到海岸邊，到達多個美麗的海灣與沙灘，其中最有名的是尤加卡利，一個下午，朋友們一起走過橄欖林到海灘嬉水，面對清徹澄淨的海水，可以看到水底多姿多彩的遊魚和各種生物，我不禁拿出畫筆與畫冊，把眼前周圍的美景紀錄下來。
